MICRO

Highest statutory prioritization

Max Investment: ≤ ₹2.5 Crore
Max Turnover: ≤ ₹10 Crore
  • 100% collateral-free borrowing under CGTMSE scheme
  • Mandatory 45-day payment statutory shield
  • 50% government subsidy on patent/trademark filing
SMALL

Small Enterprise

Rapidly scaling firms & manufacturers

Max Investment: ≤ ₹25 Crore
Max Turnover: ≤ ₹100 Crore
  • 1% interest subvention on commercial bank overdrafts
  • Concessional power and utility tariff eligibility
  • Exemption from Earnest Money Deposit (EMD) on tenders
MEDIUM

Medium Enterprise

Established industrial corporations

Max Investment: ≤ ₹125 Crore
Max Turnover: ≤ ₹500 Crore
  • Full recourse under MSME Samadhaan Delayed Payment Act
  • Special export promotion incentives and trade fair grants
  • Technology Upgradation Fund (CLCSS) subsidies

Understanding the Composite Criteria Principle

Under the official MSME Gazette Notification, an enterprise moves to the higher bracket if it exceeds either the Investment ceiling or the Turnover ceiling for a category. For example, if a firm has ₹1.5 Crore investment (within Micro) but achieves ₹15 Crore turnover (exceeding the ₹10 Crore Micro limit), it is statutorily classified as a Small Enterprise.

The statutory Government Udyam Registration fee is strictly ₹0. No ministry, department, or statutory body levies any fee for generating an official Udyam Certificate.

This includes Sole Proprietorships, Partnerships, LLPs, Private Limited Companies, Public Limited Companies, One Person Companies (OPC), HUFs, Societies, and Trusts.

What are the current Micro, Small and Medium enterprise limits?

Effective from 1 April 2025: Micro: Investment ≤ ₹2.5 Crore AND Turnover ≤ ₹10 Crore; Small: Investment ≤ ₹25 Crore AND Turnover ≤ ₹100 Crore; Medium: Investment ≤ ₹125 Crore AND Turnover ≤ ₹500 Crore.

GSTIN is mandatory for enterprises that are required to register under the CGST Act. However, micro-enterprises with turnover below the mandatory threshold or entities dealing exclusively in GST-exempt goods can register using PAN alone.

Can one Udyam Registration contain multiple activities?

Yes! A single Udyam registration certificate can include manufacturing, technical services, and trading activities simultaneously by mapping multiple 5-digit NIC codes in the master enterprise profile.

Can existing UAM registration be migrated?

Yes. All legacy Udyog Aadhaar Memorandum (UAM) and EM-II registrations must be transitioned to the current Udyam platform to maintain statutory MSME status and continue accessing government subsidies.

Does Udyam Registration require renewal?

No. The Udyam Registration Certificate is valid for a lifetime and does not require periodic renewal. The portal automatically updates turnover and investment figures via its integration with Income Tax and GST systems.

What is NIC code assistance?

National Industrial Classification (NIC) codes identify your exact commercial activities. Selecting inaccurate codes can result in disqualification from subsidies, loss of public procurement tender exemptions, or portal queries. Adequs assists in identifying and mapping accurate 5-digit NIC codes across all your business lines.
